CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN

Catfish and the Bottlemen, started as a small band in the UK trying to make it big. They started by playing smaller venues but are now touring around the UK and even managed to break through into America. Their album ‘The Balcony’ was released on the 19th of June 2014. Also that year they played at Reading and Leeds festival, and have secured a set there the following year.

The album has been a huge success by being included in the top 10 UK album charts. That’s pretty fucking impressive for their first album, it even got certified gold in UK on January 9th, 2015.

I remember seeing them in November 2015, at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth. A small intimate gig and it was magical. Although quite confined it didn’t stop the crowd from bouncing non-stop whilst they performed on stage. This was when Van had his shaggy hair and they were just finding their feet. It was amazing to see them before the music industry swallows them up entirely.

But it feels like we’ve seen this before? The small band making it big time, both in the UK and the US. The lead singer getting a make-over, well cutting his shaggy hair and turning into a complete dickhead? Yeah I’m talking about Arctic Monkeys.


I hope that Van and his band don’t become obnoxious assholes, because if you’re a twat it doesn’t matter how good your music is, people won’t listen.
